Ancestral Intelligence Network: Echolocation

Excited to share my contribution to Ancestral Intelligence Network: Echolocation, an immersive interactive experience created by Jazsalyn in partnership with NEW INC and EY Intelligent Realities Lab.

Echolocation is a web-based 3D experience that explores Ancestral Intelligence—knowledge systems, philosophies, and traditions passed across generations within Indigenous African communities and their diasporas. Combining game technology, spatial audio, GIS mapping, interviews, and archival research, the project creates an interactive living archive that reimagines how we think about intelligence, technology, ecology, and cultural knowledge.

As a 3D Artist on the project, I was responsible for:

• Creating the 3D node assets used throughout the experience
• Developing custom materials and material effects to support the visual language of the project
• Designing and implementing the aurora-style visual effects within the environment
• Creating particle systems and atmospheric VFX to enhance immersion and spatial storytelling
• Collaborating closely with artists, technologists, developers, and designers to translate complex research into an engaging interactive experience

It was an incredible opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling, cultural archives, and emerging technology.
